Riab village is located three kilometers west of Gonabad city in a plain-slope area.
Riab tourist destination village is a short distance from Qasbeh Gonabad aqueduct.
The old residential buildings are all made of mud and decorated with bricks.
The castle, water storage, castle towers, old school and bath and alley covered with mud roofs to create shade are among the sights of this village.
Riab has a thousand years of written history and is one of the oldest mud villages in the country.
Riab Castle is in the form of two nested castles and a moat with an approximate width of 6 meters and a depth of 4 meters surrounds it.
Historic houses of Riab village:
One of these houses is the “Nasserite House”, the door of which opens to a large porch where guests have been waiting.
The porch is located so that it can not be seen inside the house at all.
After the porch, we enter a corridor that leads us into the house.
One of the special features of this house is that it has no windows outside the house and all the windows open to the 175 meter yard.
Apart from the garden, the surface of Hilat is covered with raw bricks.
Another feature of Riab houses is the presence of old windbreaks that are connected to the crypt through a direct valve.
