The harvest of red gold has started in Iran and Nobraneh saffron (the first grown flowers are called Neobraneh saffron). will enter the market from October 16.
The vice president of the National Saffron Council announced the beginning of the saffron harvest in Nobraneh and said: We will reach the peak of saffron harvest at the beginning of November and this process will continue until December 10. Stating that Nobaraneh saffron will enter the market from 16th October , he added: Estimates indicate that the price of saffron will not differ with the arrival of the new product.
The current price of each kilogram of saffron inside Iran is as follows: 64 to 65 million tomans for bunch saffron, 85 to 86 million tomans for Pushal saffron, 92 to 94 million tomans for Sargol saffron, and 95 to 98 million tomans for Nagin saffron. The vice president of the Saffron National Council continued: Considering that this year the warehouses of the rural cooperative and the commodity exchange are empty, and on the other hand, the farmers bring the product to the market with timely management, the price will not change much.
He stated that it is not possible to make an accurate statement about saffron production, adding that experts and specialists admit that according to the conditions, saffron production has increased by 20 to 30 percent compared to the previous year. According to last year's statistics, 223 tons of saffron were exported to the target markets, and it is expected that the export will reach more than this figure this year by removing the obstacles facing the exporters.
In the past years, we had a record export of 325 tons of saffron to the target markets, and the decrease in Iran's exports does not mean that the buyers of saffron have decreased, but the difference is smuggled to the target markets.
