Big brands such as BASF and STECPAC have gathered forces to create a stable packing specialized for fresh product section. A Colombian salty fruit exporter, Jardin Exotics will be the first one to use new packing brand, Xgo Circular. Characteristics of MAP packing which is presented horizontal as a film to fill and seal, slows down the rutting process and maintains the quality of fruit in the long cruise voyage from Colombia to Europe. Packing in templates of final retail product in the source also prevents the product to be repacked after arriving to destination.
For salty fruit, what makes this film’s function unique is the specialized modified atmosphere with high rate of water vapor transmission. The brand StePac which is specialized in developing solutions for functional advanced packings is a groundbreaker company in using chemical recycled plastics for packing fresh perishable materials. This company recently received a REDcert2 certificate to fit in chemical recycled Polyamide 6 in the product’s packings with MAP technology. Two brands of Xgo and Xtend are based on technology of MAP that monitors the moisture in packings, StePac says that this technology slows down inside breathing, delays aging process, prevents microbial decay and maintains product’s quality and nutritional value for the long maintenance.
