Diabetic wound kneeling against red gold; Saffron
The use of plants such as saffron is not limited to the food industry, but they can also be used in the pharmaceutical industry. For this reason, Iranian researchers tried to use saffron plant to treat diabetic wounds. Iranian biotechnology researchers started the project of producing ointments, dressings and adhesives for the treatment of diabetic wounds. As you know, diabetic wounds are infectious and cannot be repaired. By processing saffron, our researchers were able to produce three products: ointment, dressing and wound adhesive containing saffron. In the research process for the production of these three products, it has been proven that there is a substance in saffron that can be effective in healing diabetic wounds.
In this process, with the help of nanotechnology, silver nanoparticles are produced from saffron root, which heals diabetic wounds. Researchers have concluded that this substance can repair diabetic wounds during the experiments to investigate the nanoparticle and its effect on diabetic mice. The therapeutic process of the product’s effect on 21-day-old mice showed that diabetic wound healing is possible. With the results obtained from this research, the ointment and dressing produced by processing saffron will be used for people with diabetic wounds. We are sure that this plan is worth commercialization and will definitely attract the attention of foreign investors and start-ups.
