According to out journalist’s report ”based on statistics Iran has the most consumption of saffron per Capita among other countries.” says the member of national council of saffron.
He says ”according to the statistics, with the amount of one gram each person, Iran has the most consumption of saffron per Capita but due to the raise of price in home market this amount will decrease by half.
”The climax of cropping saffron is in late October but we can not announce the effect of dry weather or drought on production cut percentage until the end of season, because even though in some ways dry weather can reduce the products but we can not consider one farmer or farm the basis for 120 thousand hectares worth of product” says the member of national council of saffron, with the mention that cropping the firstfruit of saffron happens in the very beginning of October.
He continues ”saffron is not a rainfed agriculture that only uses rain for irrigation, in winter it constantly uses ducts and wells every 15 days for irrigation because saffron’s cultivation is not a rainfed agriculture that allows farmers to wait on rain falls.”
This member mentioned that rains in late winter and early spring have a good impact on saffron’s corm and its blooming, he says ” based on these facts we can not have a clear opinion about production cut”.
