The price of saffron during the years of 2020 to 2021 experienced a lot of unprecedented changes and increscent and reached 3 times its price compared to 2019.
One of the reasons for this price growth is the deduction of harvest.
Deduction of the saffron harvest is subjected to two main factors:
1- Continuous droughts
2- The lack of proper planning to help and support farmers
(lack of proper education, lack of agricultural inputs, distribution of nonstandard chemical composts…) because if there was a supportive system for the farmers they would have put more time to maintain and preserve their saffron farms with more assurance to reach higher productivity and would not think about repurposing it because of low economic.
Of course it’s worth to mention that in the last 3 years the price of agricultural products and livestock increased around the globe due to the wide spread of Coronavirus and the late war between Ukraine and Russia, so the saffron in Iran is not exceptional.
Finally let us notice you, dear collogues and costumers that the price of saffron experienced a new wave in the last month and increased about 10 percent and it is estimated that the price will stay high until the month before harvesting. Based on the experts’ opinions, this year the harvest will increase around 15 percent and hopefully the price will decrease significantly in the new year.
